According to the U.S. Trade Representative`s office, the USMCA is a „mutual benefit to Workers, Farmers, Farmers and Businesses in North America.“ Nafta was aiming for the creation of a free trade area between the United States, Canada and Mexico, and the USMCA is using NAFTA as the basis for a new agreement. While the USMCA has a broad impact on trade of all kinds between the three designated nations, some of the most important provisions of the agreement include: Fifth, all NAFTA countries were required to respect patents, trademarks and copyrights. Negotiators worked around the clock and reached an agreement less than an hour before midnight on a draft text. U.S. food prices were lower due to duty-free imports from Mexico. Oil imported from Canada and Mexico has prevented the rise in gas prices. NAFTA has also increased trade and economic growth for all three countries. NAFTA was the largest free trade agreement in the world when it was established on January 1, 1994. NAFTA was the first time that two industrialized countries had signed a trade agreement with an emerging country. Mexico has agreed to impose a minimum wage of $16 per hour for Mexican auto workers by a „neutral“ third party. Mexico, which imports all of its aluminum, also objected to the provisions relating to the U.S. steel and aluminum content of automotive components.  This classification system allows for greater flexibility than the CLC`s four-digit structure, by establishing a six-digit hierarchical coding system and dividing all sectors into 20 branches. Five of these sectors are primarily those that produce goods, the other 15 being exclusively those that provide some type of service. Each company receives a primary NAICS code indicating its main line of business. A company receives its main code based on the definition of the code, which generates most of the company`s revenue on a site reported last year. The „Environment“ chapter contains the most comprehensive environmental commitments applicable to a previous U.S. agreement, including obligations to combat trade in wild plants, wood and fish; Strengthen law enforcement networks to curb human trafficking; and address pressing environmental issues, such as air quality and marine waste.
